EV Charging Adapters Guide: NACS, J1772 & CCS

North America has three main connector types. J1772 is the AC connector on most non-Tesla EVs. CCS1 adds DC fast-charging pins below the J1772 connector. NACS (SAE J3400), Tesla's connector, handles both AC and DC and is being adopted by many automakers.

Choose the adapter by the direction you need: the car's port on one end and the charger's plug on the other. For DC fast charging, use only adapters your automaker approves or that are certified for your car, and follow the station's rules.
